Not really sure what you mean by 'navigate from page to page' -- if you just need to go back or forward within the same tab, you can click and hold the arrows found to the left of the Omnibox.
If you have an address you want to go to, simply start typing it in the Omnibox and Chrome will present you choices in a drop-down menu based on your browser history. I think Chrome's minimalist, uncluttered interface was a deliberate design decision, and it's unlikely to be changed based on a single post in the forums.
