I'm also not sure what you are referring to, but it might the drop-down history menu on the Back & Forward button, which Chrome actually implements but doesn't show a UI element for (like an arrow next to the button in FireFox). In Chrome you need to click and hold the button (or click and drag down) to get that menu to appear.
