I'm not sure if this a well-known problem, so accept my apologies if
it is. I have been experiencing problems with Chromium downloading
files from the web. I'm running Chromium under Ubuntu on several
machines (laptops & desktops) and files that I download are almost
corrupted all the time.

In your face example: Go to the Ubuntu download page and download an
iso image, then compare the md5sum.
Almost every time I downoad a zip or a rar archive, file-roller gives
a "file corrupted" message and fails to extract. When I try the same
thing with another browser, e.g. Opera, everything works! In some
cases, the downloading of the file is suddenly terminated. This
happened to me once while downloading the Kubuntu iso image, where
Chromium only downloaded less than 1/2 of the file.

I have the daily build PPA set up on all my machines and I update my
systems almost on a daily basis. Currently, I'm writing this from
Chromium version 4.0.225.0 (Ubuntu build 30028) on a Xubuntu laptop.
Earlier today I had a problem "corrupted file" with a rar archive
downloaded with this same version on the same machine.

Best.
