I suspect this is the crash I fixed last week. We had two changelists going in close to one another, one that exposed an underlying flakiness problem in the way we draw the toolstrips and another that fixes that problem. Unfortunately, the dev build was cut in between those changelists. Can you try downloading this file, expanding it to your desktop, running chrome.exe from this folder and install your extension to see if it crashes. http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/continuous/LATEST/chrome-win32.zip
