Dear all,

I am preparing a paper on "Foch seen by Churchill" for a Foch conference in
Paris in November.

Has any List Member any idea of the exact date when Churchill first met
Foch ?

In "Marshal Foch" (_Great Contemporaries_, third page of the essay,
beginning a new ยง in my 1947 Odhams reprint, p.145) he writes :

"I had made the acquaintance of Foch at manoeuvres before the war".

There is no mention of this first encounter in the Official Biography or its
Companion Volumes.

Thank you in advance,

A.Capet
