Your chat-colleague is absolutely right: 'Ohm Krueger' was a famous propaganda movie set during the Boer War
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohm_Kr%C3%BCger_(Film) I have to admit that I have never seen the movie in full length though this one unlike many others is not outlawed by German 'hate speech' legislation.. I only recall seeing short clips as part of TV documentations about nazi-era film-making: I have forwarded the query to a friend of mine, and this is his response: The movie shows Queen Victoria, Lord Kitchener and Winston Churchill as archetypical exponents of 'British imperialism' It was made during the Battle of Britain and clearly is part of a propaganda offensive. However, pointing out that concentration camps were a 'British invention' was a frequent motive with German propaganda, most famously in Hans Grimm's 'Volk ohne Raum' (a novel about settlers in South Africa/Namibia) The movie was part of a long series of expensive 'Hollywood'-style productions made by the Berlin movie industry. They were also meant as compensation for the immensely popular American movies missing after 1933. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "ChurchillChat" group.
