The answer is yes and no.  He was a chronic imbiber of alcoholic  
beverages, may have developed a great capacity due to increased alcohol  
dehydrogenase in his liver and usually had his liquor in weak concoctions (his  
soda 
whiskey) or with meals. It is documented, at least on one occasion,  that he 
was the worse for alcohol, after a meal he and Eden had with Uncle Joe  during 
WWII, may have been so at Randolph's 21st Birthday celebration but NOT  
when General Beaverbrook thought he was (he had woken prematurely from his  
afternoon nap and the barbiturate was not out of his system.).
 
There is a lot more that could be written but this should suffice for  now.
