Its interesting reading the debate on the list regarding the question what
would Churchill do? And yes, when you think about it - it is rather pointless
exercise trying to imagine what Churchill would do today. But its a question
people keep asking.

Andrew Marr writes something at the Daily Mail. For those who dislike this
pastime please accept my apologies. But it does include a qoute which I never
heard before 'Courage is going from failure to failure without losing
enthusiasm.'

As a matter of interest to the list. I live in Brazil and not many people know
about Churchill so theres not much point talking about who he is. I was 5 years
of age when Churchill died and I grew up in the UK with the knowledge of who
Churchill was, my sister did a study on his life at School. We can only have
thankful hearts that this man lived when he did. Since his passing his life
continues to influence many.

My wife one day brought home a magaine on Hitler...Can you imagine. It was
included free with another publication. It featured what it called great
leaders in history. Unless I am very much mistaken the magazine series did not
include Churchill in the series. There are times when I sometimes despair.
But one day when I went into the city nearby. I visited a shop which sells
Fibreglass supplies. To my great surprise a Brazilian gentleman behind the
counter when he knew I was English, mentioned Churchill. He knew exactly who
Churchill was and what he stood for. I told him about the list and said he
wants to be signed up to the Churchill Chat. Generally when people know I am
from England they think of the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. So for someone to
mention Churchill was great surprise. Anyhow I thought I would share this.

If Churchill historians could be sponsored to visit Brazil and also other
nations or a travelling exhibition it would be an interesting way of helping
future generations not acquainted with Churchill to learn lessons from history.

Regards

Peter
