"Andrew Marr writes something at the Daily Mail. For those who dislike
this pastime please accept my apologies. But it does include a qoute
which I never heard before  'Courage is going from failure to failure
without losing enthusiasm.' "

Nor have I. This is not only not Churchill's. It is yet another
variation of a common misquote. From my quotations book, "Churchill by
Himself" (http://xrl.us/behhv6), the "Red Herrings" appendix, page
580:

"Success is going from failure to failure without losing your
enthusiasm." Broadly attributed to Churchill, but found nowhere in his
canon. An almost equal number of sources credit this saying to Abraham
Lincoln; but none of them provides any attribution.

"My wife one day brought home a magazine on Hitler...Can you imagine.
It was included free with another publication. It featured what it
called > great leaders in history." Pray recall that Churchill
included Hitler in his book entitled GREAT CONTEMPORARIES.

As for "what WSC would do," the best rejoinder, as always, is that of
Lady Soames: "How do YOU know?"
