As some of you may know, Warren Dockter will be bringing out a new book on
Churchill and the Islamic World in a few months; it cover Churchill’s
relationship with Islam over the whole of his life. Information is on the I.B.
Tauris website.

Subject: [ChurchillChat] Re: Candidate Arrested for Speech in UK

This is absolutely RIDICULOUS. When I first read the Churchill quote in
question a few years ago, I was struck by WSC's prescience. In some ways, he
was right--especially when it comes to the more radical Islamists, who want to
impose their Sharia law over English/British Common Law.

To jail someone (even a politician) for views that some consider non-PC is
insane. Isn't that what places like Hyde Park Corner are set up for: to give
those with unpopular views a forum? Granted, this politician wasn't there,
but he should be allowed to express such views aloud.

My two US cents.....

Arrested for quoting Winston Churchill: European election candidate accused of
religious and racial harassment after he repeats wartime prime minister’s words
on Islam during campaign speech

He quoted WSC from “The River War”, quoted him mind you, for something written
100+ years ago. Part of which is:

'Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of
commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the
Prophet rule or live.'
