However, in answer to your specific question, the following:  I listened to the interview of the British commander of the mechanised unit that strormed the prison.  He stated that both soldiers were not present at the prison but they learned from Iraqi prison officers (probably use of force/threats of force) that they had both earlier been turned over to Shia militia.  Both soldiers were rescued from the latter amid the commander's fear that both were to be executed.
