Hi Sid Martin,
The network trace is showing that the DNS server is not returning IP
addresses for the domain controllers. Could you please upgrade your
system to run a build that includes onnv build 93 or 94, after June
2008? Build 94 would be better. The diagnostic report shows that you
are running NexentaOS_20080312, which does not contain some updates for
similar issues. Build 93 contains a fixed that will query DNS for IP if
DNS server does not supply IP address for domain controller.
I assume there are host records for the following hosts in your DNS server:
arladgclst02.lst.link.l-3com.com
arladgclst03.lst.link.l-3com.com
arladimlst01.lst.link.l-3com.com
bgmaddcgc001.lst.link.l-3com.com
orladdcgc01.lst.link.l-3com.com
If you can't do an upgrade, you can try a workaround using ADS site by
creating an ADS site and putting the DC you want the CIFS server to
connect to in that ADS site. Then configured CIFS server to use ADS site.
