Thanks for the response Alan. Turns out idmap is the one thats crashing. Are there any dependencies to it even though it's supposed to be running in workgroup mode?
I see many core.idmapd.* files in /var/tmp from today. Spits out another one everytime I try to access one of the smb shares.
