I have setup a OpenSolaris 2008.11 RC2 CIFS Server in workgroup mode. When I
connect to a CIFS share and authenticate as a local user on the OpenSolaris
box, it appears that the "other" permissions get applied to me. For example, I
have a dir with the perms 750, owned by local user "UserA" and group "root". My
assumption is that when I connect to this CIFS share and authenticate as
"UserA" I should have rwx perms on that directory, however that is not the
case. When I connect I get whatever bits are set for the "other" group. Can
anyone help me out with this? Perhaps I've got something setup incorrectly or
am misunderstanding how permissions work on a CIFS server in workgroup mode.
Any insights would be much appreciated.
