Afshin, We are currently evaluating the 7200 line and I just ran into the same issue with my testing. Is child filesystem support for CIFS on the roadmap?
If not, then a related question comes up. Is there a way to set Windows ACL's on the root directory of CIFS shares? Samba allows this if the rights for the share are assigned using computer management from a Windows box. I can't get this to work on a 7200 CIFS share. We are evaluating the 7200 line to replace our existing Windows based storage. Currently we have several Windows shares with group directories underneath. We were hoping to replace the group directories with child ZFS filesystems so we could apply ZFS quotas and reservations for each group directory. If we can't use child filesystems, we can share each group filesystem, but we would really like to limit viewing of the contents of these directories to only people with appropriate Windows rights. Hopefully there is a way to make something like this work or a different way to get a similar result or we may have to look elsewhere.
