All appears to be working.
Then a reboot of Osol server and eventually a reboot of windows

This was a known bug between snv_106 and snv_109.
What build are you running?
Sorry that is build 110
It looks like we continued having issues through snv_110 - see the
"nv 111, CIFS working again" thread. snv_111 should also be okay
if you disable oplocks:
svccfg -s smb/server setprop smbd/oplock_enable=false
I'd recommend snv_112.

A final note is that through out my experimenting with osol as zfs
server on lan...( a few wks now) the Osol host or the shares offered
by it have never appeared in the windows applet `Network Places'.
All other windows hosts and linux hosts do appear there.
This means manually entering UNC addresses to connect... not all
windows based applications expect to use UNC addressing... at least
not in the UI dialog boxes, although they are probably using UNC
internally.
So apparently something about the way the ZFS server behaves in the
network makes it invisible in `Network Places'.
This is also a known problem. Do you have have any IP aliases
defined or have you excluded IP addresses using sharectl?
Not knowingly... the ouput of sharectl get smb below doesn't look bad
to me but I don't really know what to look for. (Not all lan machines
are on currently):
sharectl get smb
