Okay, I did a wireshark capture (smbadm.pcap). I issued:

smbadm join -u Administrator fam.local

And the capture shows what goes on.

Packet 4: Asks for the domain controller for fam.local
Packet 5: Returns two answers:
_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.fam.local: type SRV, class IN, priority 0, weight 100,
port 389, target famdc01.fam.local
_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.fam.local: type SRV, class IN, priority 0, weight 100,
port 389, target famw3s01.fam.local

Packet 13 -16: there seems to be a successful ldap connect

Pacekt 25: seems of some interest to me: It talks to Active Directory and gets
to know (among others):
  Primary Domain: FAM
  Server FAMDC01

Pacekt 27++: From here on FAM.LOCAL and ADMINISTRATOR is used and get errors.

Does anyone have an idea what goes wrong here?

Puzzled greetings,
Marco
