What do you exactly mean by "no more CIFS shares"?
Is the service dead or is it still running and it seemed to be
hung?
# svcs smb/server
# pgrep smbd

Hi,
I have a rather unusual problem here, perhaps someone can help me.
I've built a new home server, to use it as a fileserver and mediaserver. To use
my mediaserver software (Mediatomb), I installed VirtualBox 3.0.0 on the
machine. Opensolaris is on 2009.06. It's a plain installation, no other
software installed (This is already the second installation, same problems with
the initial one).
So there is one virtual machine running with Ubuntu 9.04 and Mediatomb, media files are mounted from OpenSolaris CIFS through SMB to the Ubuntu VM.
After some time, I can't access the files through CIFS anymore, not from my notebook (XP) neither from the virtual machine. I can access the server through SSH, FTP or ping it. But no more CIFS shares.
I already had a look at the syslog, no entries there.
Can someone point me to other technical ways of investigating this? Of course I
can provide more details...
Many thanks for your help, this is driving me nuts right now...
Chris
