I've now uninstalled Likewise, and can't join the domain. :)
klist shows I have a valid kerberos ticket, but using smbadm join -u results in:
Joining <domain> ... this may take a minute ...
failed to join <domain>: UNSUCCESSFUL
Please refer to the system log for more information.
dmesg shows:
Nov 3 19:07:42 csearch smbd[3633]: [ID 232655 daemon.notice] ldap_modify:
Insufficient access
Nov 3 19:07:42 csearch smbd[3633]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] Failed to modify
the workstation trust account.
Nov 3 19:07:42 csearch smbd[3633]: [ID 871254 daemon.error] smbd: failed joining
<domain> (UNSUCCESSFUL)
The error messages are the same as another user reported previously:
http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=389721
In the above thread, a work-around is mentioned for a known bug:
6807827 Domain Users cannot join the system to an AD domain
But if I was previously able to join successfully, what is there to
'work-around'?
Were you previously joined using smbadm CLI or the domain join utility
that comes with Likewise?
Are you joining the system as a domain admin or regular domain user?
