Reject extremism to solve nation's problems: Hassan Khomeini
Tehran Times Political Desk
TEHRAN -- The grandson of Imam Khomeini, the Founder of the Islamic Republic of
Iran, has said that people can resolve their problems through rejecting
extremist approaches.
At a ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the 7th of Tir (June 28)
incident, in which 73 Iranian officials were martyred, Seyyed Hassan Khomeini
said, "This country, with its vast human resources, diverse natural resources,
and the power of faith, must act more efficiently in rejecting extremism."
On June 28, 1981, the terrorist group Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO)
planted a bomb in the Islamic Republic Party's main office, killing Judiciary
Chief Ayatollah Mohammad Hosseini Beheshti and 72 high-ranking Iranian
officials, including a number of MPs.
Hassan Khomeini also cautioned against "social corruption, high prices, and
poverty" and asked the people to help officials solve these problems.
"The poorer strata of society are waiting for the realization of a more
efficient system. People expect everyone to put aside any disputes and
disagreements that have arisen due to personal spite and childish hostilities
and to work out the current problems," he added.
