I am honestly interested in building something that can make Cinerella EDL's (as a simple mapping), but would be even more interested if we could abstract the functionality and make the current format 'true xml' or allow a more standard exchange format.
In my perspective this would also help with my own use case where I would want to be able to do linear editing (skip the non) by aligning content first (externally), and then import it.

really looks extremely useful. Maybe we should give it a shot, something 
like OpenTimelineIO towards Cinerella.
