Hello, I have a question about interlacing in Cinelerra. The input video is 4:3 PAL interlaced DV. The output will be a 4:3 PAL DVD. I know people watching the DVD will often pause the video. I assume the picture quality would be better if the image is deinterlaced, isn't it? It seems possible to generate a deinterlaced or interlaced DVD, and play it on a TV or a computer. If the image quality is better when paused on a deinterlace video, I assume the best solution is to interlace the video, don't you think? It is a DVD about motorbikes, and therefore there is a lot of motion.
I worked on around 200 pictures with the Gimp in order to crop and resize them into 720x576 resolution. I then imported them into my project, and everything seems all right. However, if you advise me to interlace the video output, should I interlace the photos in cinelerra? The output will be a YUV4MPEG video, which I will encode with mpeg2enc. Is it better to deinterlace the video when encoding it than deinterlacing it from Cinelerra? Thank you.
