If anybody uses Cinelerra's chromakey plugin, I suggest you try this one
out and give me some feedback. If you need help or binaries, I can
probably help out.
Cheers,
Jerome
The plugin is a great improvement. Really excellent. Thank you. It
worked for me without any fuss. I have one main comment/ suggestion for
now and one for future development:
Firstly the Brightness control only allows you to select eveything
brighter than the level chosen on the Brightness slider. I found a need
to select in the other direction.
This was because my chromakey filming situation was far from ideal and I
had shadows on the chroma key cloth. To get level of control I needed I
applied a seperate chroma key filter to every type of shadow zone. On
the darkest shadow zone I couldn't achieve a good effect because the
brightness control only allows you to select everything brighter than
the threshold and never everything darker.
An illustratration of the extra functionality I was searching for:
Key Parameters:
Brightness ----------X------------------
O select areas brighter than this
X select areas darker than this
Tolerance ----X------------------------
etc.
Secondly when a wiki entry is made it would be worth suggesting the
application of a very small zoom blur on the alpha channel following the
chromakey effect. This smooths out the aggressive edge really well
(especially now the plugin is taking care of spill light).
Incorporating an effect like this into the chroma key plugin could be a
lower priority improvement for somebody to do at another time. (Looking
at the zoom-blur panel, the functionality out of this would only need
the one slider control for radius. I guess some might also find a use
for varying the x and y components within a limited range but maybe
not. A default number of steps such as 5 or 10 would probable cover the
last setting. And 'alpha' channel only ticked of course.)
The spill control is a really effective development for this type of
work and the plug-in as a whole takes the keyed areas out agressively
and quickly. Well done and thankyou.
