hi too,
i'll do like muzzol and share my settings to the list:

i have a canon mv730i camcorder with ieee1394 connector,
 the digital video output can be grabbed into kino,
 and if i use the following settings then the resulting files
 can be directly read into cinelerra,

defaults (i'd rather term this "norm"):
         pal, audio 48kHz stereo, aspect ration 4:3
capture: file type DV AVI Type 2, OpenDML AVI
         auto split files, write every frame, 7000 frames/file, max 2000 MB
ieee1394: driver raw1394, interface 0, 50 frame buffers, poll int. 200ms
display: XVideo, enable preview, full interlaced frame, quality: best
audio: enable output on default device

system: amd64, suse10++
cinelerra: h.virtual 2.0, 2005-10 (too lazy to compile here)

/kgh>
