Please can someone tell me the main differences between Cinelerra-cvs
and Cinelerra are. I know this question is in the FAQ but it does not
answer the question. I couldn't find a way of searching the archive
which would be very useful.

In addition to Stefan's response I would add: Pierre Dumuid from this list, some time ago, described it this way:

"This list is primarily focussed on the cinelerra-CV (i.e. the community version of cinelerra) that is downloaded via svn.

The CV has a number of features that the official version doesn't have. In terms of stability, unlike other programs, the release that heroine does, I would not describe as a "Stable" release. (There are often many new features, with annoyances, and bugs.) Rather, I personally see the CV as the communities attempt to stabalise the heroine release, and also to add enhancement in a community fashion, (whist ensuring that we can merge with heroine's new releases).

Think the main differnce is Cinelerra-cvs works with system libraries and
Cinelerra works in an envirionment where all libs are branched off in
order to keep the development area clean (and stable).
