I think it would be good to have a section and template for
walk-throughs for practical projects, so that people can outline the
steps they took to accomplish something, such as making a DVD of a
birthday party.

On the importance of the wiki:

With the explosion of video on the web, the need for a video editing
solution on Linux is here and growing. Demand being here, the main
obstacles to a wide distribution of Cinelerra are the installation and
usability issues the we are all familiar with.
The first issue , installation, is currently being tackled by various
distributions making it much easier to achieve.
On the second issue, it would be great to have a re-designed, beautifull,
intuitive UI... but we know that it would require a whole lot of work and
involve much more developer time that what is available now.
Re-design of the UI not being on the table at this point, I seriously
believe that good documentation can do wonders to mitigate the usability
issues that new cinelerra users encounter.
Anyway, I hope this motivates users (specially us who cant't code in C) to
collaborate with the documentation project.
