I don't think so. By dragging the keyframe, you can put it where you
want it to be (ie. "at the position").

Could you show us a screenshot?

I haven't seen any kind of light cycles as you say. Is that what's shown
in the compositor? Or is it what you get in the rendered/previewed video?

It allows to define the curve shape. You press "Ctrl", then, without
releasing the key, you click and drag the small white square. Look at
the shape of the curve: it changes.
One "difficult" aspect is that while it's easy to move the input
controle, you have to understand that the output control can only be
accessed if the input control is already moved.

Alex recently modified the Keyframe page. I don't know if he has
finished yet so I won't edit that page for the moment.
