Hi there!

I've just been acquainted with the lock/unlock labels button.
Nice feature.
But these words are not clear enough for my simple mind that keeps
saying: "Labels aren't or locked or loose. They are always tied up to
something."

After reading documentation and experimenting I think labels in two
ways.

1) AS A SELECTING TOOL
Of temporary use to delete, copy and paste.

2) AS MARKERS
Examples:
2a) LOCKED ONTO THE TIME
I have a musical piece I want to comment with video. I'll set labels to
precise moments in time, to mark particular points in the music.
Labels will be connected to the time, and therefore to the timebar. I
don't want them to move from their timebar position.
2b) LOCKED ONTO THE EDIT
I have a project with many scenes. I'll set labels to precise moments of
the story (eg. a fade out to black) to divide a scene from another.
Label will be connected to an edit itself, not to the time of it. I can
work on the edits making them longer or shorter, I can change the order,
add, clear. But I don't want the label to move from the edit that marks
the beginning of the scene.
But in this regard Cinelerra has not a very consistent behaviour. Maybe
we don't share the same thinking...

How do you think labels?

Ciao
Raffaella
