Hi Craig!

Thanks for your reply.

I fell in love with the possibilities of the Viewer overwriting.
My way of using it is a little different from yours:

1. Arm only tracks to change.
2. Define the destination region on the timeline with [ and ]. No need
for clear or mute.
3. Define the clip you want to use in the viewer with [ and ], without
worrying if the clip is longer than the destination region.
4. Overwrite from Viewer to main. Very kindly the portion of the clip
longer than the destination region won't be copied. On the timeline the
following edits won't move.

I love it so much that I tried to replicate it using edits from the
timeline itself instead of edits from the Viewer.
In this case, to perform overwriting I paste on a selected region
(highlighted or between in/out points) but rudely the edit from the
clipboard will be copied full length (instead of trimmed) moving the
following edits to the right (logically but unfortunately on the armed
tracks only).

The big difference between Viewer's edits and Timeline's edits is that
the latter show sound waves, allowing a very precise selection of the
starting point.
Maybe a possible workaround for this is overwriting blindly the clip
from the Viewer, looking for precision only once it is on the timeline
by trimming the source only (on my Cin with the right mouse button).

In one way or another... I need limits! ;-)

Bye
Raffaella
