This depends very much on where you expect to show/see the video.
Deinterlace effect does remove the comb effect, but it also effectivly
reduces the quality. If you are planning to see the video on the
computer, you may not be satisfied with the outcome.

However if you want to show it on the TV, then it may look nice even
without deinterlacing.

I don't know as much about the comb effect as I would like to,
but I think it is caused by camera rather than Cinelerra or DVgrab.
If there is no comb on the Final Cut, that would probably mean that
Final Cut is doing some kind of deinterlacing without letting you know.

If FinalCut's deinterlacing is more cleaver than Cinelerra's (->
provides better quality), then It may be better to import video with
Final Cut and edit it with Cinelerra.

When I have a lot of time and I want a good quality vide, I usually
do the following:

1. Import the whole track
2. Attach the deinterlace effect
3. Scan the video through and APPLY DEINTERLACE ONLY TO HEAVY MOTION
SCENES
4. Render Video to some loseless format (e.g. raw or dv)

This takes a lot of time, but it will render rather good quality of
video. The point is that the spectator can not distinguish the quality
of video very clearly during the heavy motion scenes. But we can judge
the quality very clearly when watching the still images (where
deinterlacing is not needed).

There is of course another solution - to buy better camera - if possibly
the one which can take up to 60fps (I think this can solve the comb).
