It is, to me, good practice to build from source especially if some
packages (deb, rpm) can be installed when libs are missing.
At least when you build from source you know what is missing thanks to the
extremely informative output from configure
i agree, is just that new users should be able to install without
hassle, and compiling sometimes gives complex problems.
anyway, have you tried to install that packages, Márcio?
