Yeah, I can understand that attitude. Note that it's not broken on all kernels. I have run it successfully a while ago on an older dv1394 kernel setup. It's also possible that the stock heroines iec61883 version works, but the CV version is broken because of additions of AV/C control code. I haven't investigated far enough to be sure. Also, the Cinelerra record dialog supports some interesting features, like timed recording from a TV capture card.
