Franz - you asked for some basics. It is always worth checking where the application launcher is pointing to. It may be the launcher from the broken HV cinelerra install.
I'm not using the deb packages you used but my cinelerra executable is located at /usr/local/bin/cinelerra and not /usr/bin/cinelerra. You may be trying to luanch a broken cinelerra installation rather than your new build. Use your file search tool to search your filesystem for multiple instances of cinelerra then check the dates and the delete the older version. And finally, when you are trouble-shooting, launch cinelerra from the command line - open a terminal and type cinelerra or /usr/bin/cinelerra or /usr/local/bin/cinelerra. That way you might get some meaningful output as to the cause of your problems. hopefully you get it sorted soon.
