What I merely thought of was the fact that HDV is 16:9 wide while I
think downconvert output using iLink becomes a DV 4:3 squeezed format.
That is a HDV circle becomes a vertical positioned elipse.
Can this anamorphic DV geometri be corrected in Cinelerra or possibly
using ffmpeg?
If a circle looks like an ellipse then you are viewing with the wrong
aspect and it sounds like you are correctly capturing 16:9 DV. In
Cinelerra just change the project aspect to 16:9 and it will look
right.
- corrected to DV 16:9 wide
- corrected to DV 4:3 letterbox
