Hi Pier,

Hi to all.
I was trying to edit in Cinelerra an mpeg2 file, but I stopped because I
realized that it's impossible to not loose quality.

Follow this:

1) Load in Cinelerra an mpeg2 file (so it is already compressed)
2) Play with it (cut, move and join pieces)
3) Render the file to be used in a DVD (so a new mpeg2 file)

Step 3, you teach me, is needed to make the file usable in DVD authoring, BUT
if you think, you are re-compressing some originally already compressed frames
(from step 1).

Does it exist a method to don't compress again (during the render phase) an
originally already compressed video?

No, that's only possible with DV compressed video at the moment, not with MPEG.

Thanks and regards
Pier Luigi

Thomas
