I wish I was having the same experience the guy in bug 343 is reporting. For me, it "doesn't play fine" when the error pops up. In fact, it plays choppy, loops, and struggles to move forward in the timeline. It also loads video AVI files, on occasion, as AUDIO -- go figure.
Still wondering what I can do to correct this. At this point, Cinelerra is unusable for me.
