Naw, it'll definitely slow down when you apply effects --unless you have
an absolutely insanely fast machine that is- but the difference now is
that the frames Cinelerra can't render in time will just be dropped;
Cinelerra won't slow down just so you can see every frame.

Definitely look into background rendering.  It's a great feature to have
and use.
