Surgical implements aren't intended for 'consumers' either.
But bandages, antiseptic cream etc are.

I started out as a 'consumer' a couple of weeks ago as I was looking for
a Linux video editor.

Tried a few programs, settled on kdenlive for a while, till I got tired
of it segfaulting every time I sneezed or scratched myself.

#2 choice was Cinelerra - I was put off by what then felt like
complexity. The whole thing about keyframes, camera, projector etc burst
a few cerebral blood vessels. But I persisted.

Now, just a couple of weeks later, I'm comfortably settled with
Cinelerra. I couldn't do without those very features I found hard to
understand before.

I gather that what's meant by 'consumer' in this thread is someone who
expects to find their way around the program and be up to speed within
10 minutes or less, with minimal or no reading of manuals.

Cheers
David
