I'd suggest instead of using letter case to describe the difference, use
the actual keystrokes:  "R" for record (the key on the keyboard has an
uppercase R on it, never mind that on some internal level it translates to
a lowercase r ASCII code) and "Shift-R" for render.  I think that's more
consistent with other software documentation.
