Hi Aaron, as you have certainly noted in the last months, Christian Thaeter (cehteh) and I am working on a partial rewrite of some aspects of the render engine (i.e deep down below the hood, nothing visible as "features" for the user.). We are proceeding not overly fast, but continuously. This thing may well evolve into a new version of Cinelerra at some point in the future, but at the moment we just want to learn of problems the current code base run into (programmers POV) and re-align some things to help and make more viable implementing those features and improvements we all know the community needs and wants. While currently we are in the middle of turning some first drafts into code and just have to go ahead, in some time -- say in two or four months -- when this works out OK, there would be plenty of interesting sub-projects and follow-ups for interested hard-core programmers (both plain old C style, and C++) to carry on. So, at least spreading the information /that/ there is ongoing movement and possible change to the current situation could be helpful. Hermann Vosseler (aka.
