I'd like to offer to do some focus testing of the proposed names, once they are narrowed down to the to 6-10 or so.
The new Cin3 can do for NLEs what Firefox did for browsers. Imagine giving Avid and Apple something to sweat about! But only if the word of mouth buzz will take off. It's important to understand how the potential users (customers) of Cin3 will react to the name before any hard decisions are made. Sticking to an obscure, hard to remember brand image will only make the success more difficult to achieve. Here is what I propose: conducting individual focus group tests complete with product mockups in order to gain both an auditory and visual response. Focus questions should be standardized and given a numerical value, then you can look and understand the results in an unbiased fashion. I'm not saying that the results should be binding, rather the full community can still vote, but at least they would have a clear and unbiased view of what names would work, and what names will not. If you guys are up for that, I'd be happy to give it a go. I'll even share my methodology so that the same surveys can be conducted in other countries. (I'm in the US) It'll take a week or two to gather the data, but then at least we would be making an informed decision instead of a shot in the dark. For a rough idea of the methodology, see here: http://www.igorinternational.com/process/naming-guide-product-company-names.php -Jay _______________________________________________ Cinelerra mailing list [email protected] https://init.linpro.no/mailman/skolelinux.no/listinfo/cinelerra
