Hi Wiebe, It's not really what you're asking but I just heard about xjadeo (http://xjadeo.sourceforge.net/) and some discussion on irc suggests it would be a very powerful solution, albeit outside of cinelerra e.g. to use ardour for mixing the audio once you've done the compositing in cinelerra.
