Well, the results of my test marketing the new Cin3 names are back.

These are not the official Cinelerra popularity contest results, these are
the results of focus testing I did with the 15 names to determine their
marketability.

I had wanted to interview at least 10 editors, but I could only get 9 in
such notice, but in that group there was a clear trend. To my surprise,
Cutting Room scored an 85%, leagues above the next runners up. Lumiera,
Auteur, Verite, freecine and cameo all scored in the low 40s. That's a
surprise for me as I wouldn't have voted for it myself.

There were a couple of other things of note that came up during the
interviews. One of the editors I talked to in LA told me that "Lumiera"
is a plug in from Tool Farm. He also mentioned that Imagineering Systems
has plugins called "MoFX" and "MoKey" which could cause some grief for the
name "Mocutz"

The name "cinchrony" scored very well in the verbal response, but once it
came time for visual response, almost everyone hated it. Nobody like how
it was spelled. Those that liked it at first thought it had the
traditional "synchrony" spelling. I suspect it would have scored very
high had it been spelled correctly.

One of the respondents had heard of Cinelerra, but couldn't remember the
name. That's sad. I suspect that "Cinelerra" would not have scored
very well on the survey, so perhaps it''s a good thing the name is getting
changed.

Scroll down to the end and you will find the final results.

Once again, these are not the official Cinelerra popularity contest
results, these are the results of focus testing the 15 names to determine
their marketability. If you haven't yet, go and vote!
