So you don't know how ShapeWipe works? ShapeWipe can do top-to-bottom wipes, checkerboard wipes, split from the center or into the center and whatnot. You only have to create a suitable gray-scale png. Look at the examples in $prefix/lib/cinelerra/shapewipe. But, as Herman noted, it does have a few deficiencies.
