I've installed a fresh hardy and cinelerra from scratch, and now some
menus work then dont work (ex: preferences) and i find that is lower
than under gutsy !! I'm continuing the test later...

You could try to start Cinelerra with
LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=true Cinelerra
It does still seem to behave oddly from time to time, that is:
some widgets still freeze (at least for me). But you could at
least try.
I have a separate partition with Gutsy for everything Cinelerra,
although I keep coming back to Hardy to see if things have
improved (with new updates for kernel/XCB etc.). But others have
their Windows gaming partition, so I don't really care for the
added complexity as long as it works. Which it does.
