Re: Cinelerra digest, Vol 1 #2263 - -nancy reagan says say no to imovie!

by the way looking forwards to hear more about the 35mm project, I
think its a perfect example of the potential for a rough edit feature
followed by something that can handle hardcore 35mm goodness!

also, sorry about the misquote hermann!

(tears swelling up)

just kidding.

Look, if it scares away professionals to have a speedy workflow with
all the same features and benifits of fcp, than maybe professional
isn't the best word. how about "old dogs" who can't learn new tricks?

don't mean to be name calling, just seems proposterous that adding a
feature from imovie would scare away "professionals"

I think people really need to look at the potential of incorporating
said features, rather than the shortcomings of apple. I mean theres
room for that, and if Jay wants his job could specifically be
explaining everything he hates about imovie (or fcp and avid for that
matter) because I'm sure you could learn a lot from that and make
cinelerra a lot better by studying others mistakes...

still, holding a prejudice against a software based mainly on its
efficiency is just silly. I personally, would like to edit whole
movies intensely rapidly, and certain features like a skimming feature
would increase workflow... -but if that would make it too
"unprofessional" than god I don't know...

maybe professional is a term for people who do things the hard way, as
opposed to the right way?

just a thought...

and no offense to jay, I was just being silly but its hard to tell
maybe because google can't translate sarcasm yet!

OMDAL: Just because a few people mention something it doesn't mean the whole
project will change focus ;-) The brainstorming is around how doing
this could speed up a pro workflow. E.g. I'm doing lots of documentary
right now, so maybe I could benefit from a more effective rough-cut
method. But I want my real timeline for the bulk of the work.

See, open mindedness. thats all I'm asking! Looks like other people
are getting the picture. -or the rough cut if you will....

...My Final
Cut Pro-projects can not be done in an iMovie-like interface...

thank god programmers are working on the next major incarnation of the
video editor!

2008 is the year of linux growth. I see the inevitability of linux
doing everything macs and windows do, but incorporated into a new
system, open source, and because of that an infinitely faster
improvement cycle

GO TEAM!!!

and yeah don't get rid of the timeline, whats wrong with being able to
add clips through skimming to a traditional timeline?
