In future, get support for your Ubuntu distro from there. | The module appears to be loaded. I've done a modprobe raw1394 with no | difference in my result. The file is in /dev and it has root as a group | with rw- privileges. My userid is part of group root. So I'm at a loss | to see why I still get the error. This used to work fine. There is an app called Ubuntu Studio Controls available in the repos.(sudo aptitude install ubuntustudio-controls) Among other things, it lets you change the permissions on /dev/raw1394 through udev rules. It is a security risk if someone can get direct physical access to the machine (DMA over firewire), but that is a small concern for most people.
