Hi roberto,

I don't know the size of your video (maybe 1024x768) but you could try the MJPEG codec in an avi container (put .avi file extension instead of mpeg) at 10 frames per seconde. With these settings Cinelerra can read the videos made by xvidcap well. You can find other interesting informations in the xvidcap faq ==> http://xvidcap.wiki.sourceforge.net/faq#encoding .

To have informations on your video file you can use (mplayer -identify yourvideo) or I recommend you to use smplayer ==> http://smplayer.sourceforge.net (Options -> File property).
