Hello I run Ubuntu 8.04.1
I have run Cinelerra now for some years. I started by building and installing my own version Next I found Rafaels Pre build version for Slackware which I used. After that I tried shifting over to Ubunto which had pre-build versions, and they work quite well for me even today. I resently installed cinelerra in a friends machine and I had some problems with it freezing up I thought this must be a machine related problem, so I did not take it so seriously 2 days ago I also installed cinelerra in my Laptop and found the same problem. I first installed the Version of Cinelerra from http://akirad.cinelerra.org and that had the same problem. after that I tested with the version from: http://giss.tv/~vale/ubuntu32/hardy Cenelerra 2.1CV Build date Mon Jul 28 21:34:02 quicktime version 2.2.0 internal ffmpeg Libmpeg3 version 1.7.9 Both version seems to have the same problem. After working for some time the interface will freeze and I would not be able to use the program To explain some of the things I could not do. the 'Arm' buttons cannot be changed. all the buttons on that panel where the arm button is situated could not be activated but the play button would work and I could play back the track On the composer the play button would not work at all. I would then go to the xml file and edit the arm option from 0 to 1 and it would again work, and I could render my file. I do not have that problem in the earlier version of Cinelerra that I installed from the same sites about 6 month earlier. I have that version installed on 2 production machines which I normally do not upgrade if they work. I also have an older version on Slackware from Rafaels site which is still working quite well. It is difficult for me to describe what goes wrong in technical terms. If you do not understand what I am saying, then please ask.
