i think this might be related to the problem i was having.. it was
pointed out to me on irc that this is a problem with recent cinelerra
versions and a lack of compatibilty with libx11 with libxcb support built in
problem might be related to bad threading in cinelerra apparently...

some people found a work around  downgrading libx11 but an upstream
solution would be best.
